If your like me you have probably told yourself that you are a great multi-tasker. “I can handle anything” I would often say. Lots of us with excessive stress & anxiety are this way.
It was only after my husband pointed out that I never really finished a project and I was often overwhelmed and in tears. Truth was I couldn’t handle everything. Many days I would find myself sitting in my car in tears, I was completely overwhelmed & ready to hide under my bed.
I have to admit I have a terrible time asking for help. I really want to be able to handle everything all the time. So this was a very hard thing for me to realize.
I get overwhelmed pretty easy, but I found a really good fix for me. Lists! Lists have become my guideline for the day. There is something about checking the task off that makes me feel like I have accomplished something. Every morning I write my list right after my Healing Hour. I try to list it in the order it needs to happen during my day. My list is pretty detailed. I like to list the phone calls, emails any little task. This keeps me from looking at the whole picture and melting down.
